Dollar Lake. This beautiful, lesser known lake is just north of the better know Rae Lakes. The pointy mountain reflected in the lake is Fin Dome.

This lovely plateau is just south of the Bench Lake cut-off and just north of Pinchot Pass. It was freezing cold and very windy on this day. We camped near a small, shallow, warm lake but it was too cold to go swimming and enjoy.

On the way up to Donahue Pass in Yosemite. This is run off from the Lyell glacier. This water feeds Lyell creek in Lyell Canyon. The mountain range in the background is the Kuna Crest.

High Lake and Long Lake as seen from New Army Pass. This hike was very pretty and I hardly encountered anyone the whole day.
This view is looking towards French Canyon from Pine Creek Pass. The tiny, colorful flowers were full of equally tiny and colorful butterflies! This was a July trip but it felt like spring.
Gilbert Lake on the Kearsarge Pass trail.

** This photo is a finalist in the Inyo County Images Photo Contest** Lower Pines Lake. This was our first time hiking the Pine Creek a Pass trail. The effort at the start of the trail was worth the scenic rewards higher up!
Box Lake, Little Lakes Valley. This was our kids' first backpacking trip destination. I like how the clouds shoot out from Mt. Morgan.

Smokey sunset reflected in unnamed pond, Humphrey's Basin. In 2013, a raging fire burned on and on to the west of there Sierras. The winds pushed smoke from the Rim fire deep into the Sierras. In fact, the smoke even effected the air quality in Bishop! This sunset was very unique because of the smokey influence. Earlier in the day, a violent thunder storm rocked the area (which is over 11,000 feet high).

After a stormy night, we woke up to a spectacular, cloud speckled blue sky. This is one of my favorite pictures. The mountain range you see in the background is the Glacier Divide. This hike was in July but the flowers were abundant and the inlet was flowing nicely.

Stormy day on Mt. Humphrey. This picture was taken using the "Dramatic" filter on my camera. We were able to set up our tent just before the deluge of rain and hail started. The lightning was so loud it hurt our ears!

Mt. Irvine reflected in Meysan Lake. I had the lake all to myself (except for one marmot) for a whole afternoon and night. Sleeping on a ledge above the lake, all alone, made this a very special over-night backpacking trip.
4th of July backpacking trip to Kearsarge Pass. We had this awesome view of the Kearsarge Pinnacles and Kearsarge Lakes.
Pothole Lake, Kearsarge Pass trail. This was a great 4th of July backpacking trip. I can't think of a better way to celebrate our country than to hike deep into her wilderness.
